Job Summary:

Position Overview:

This position will be responsible for preparing and teaching an exercise program for active senior women ages 40-85+ at the Lathrop Hall for 5-7 hours a week. The program meets 6:40-7:40 am M-F for dance aerobics, strength, and flexibility classes.

Program Information:

This is a comprehensive program with emphasis on moving the body to maintain and increase strength, flexibility, core strength, and cardiovascular fitness.

The class builds on cardio-vascular fitness, strength, flexibility, coordination, balance, and core strength.

Aerobic dance classes are choreographed and focus on cardio-vascular fitness, coordination, and breath control. Conditioning classes focus on strength training, flexibility, core strength, breath control, and balance.

Responsibilities:

Assists with the administration and operation of a recreation, sports or intramural program. Coordinates logistics and may have administrative oversight for one or more programs. Communicates with students and or staff policies and programs, and may assist with marketing and programming.
  • 20% Helps with marketing, programming, and publicity for student or other constituent groups
  • 20% Maintains and manages program equipment and supplies
  • 20% Generates sponsorship for events
  • 20% Assists in the development of program policies, guidelines, and procedures
  • 20% Instruct members and lead aerobic dance and conditioning class
Tasks:
  • Prepare class and develop class choreography
  • Instruct members in strength, flexibility, balance, and breath control
  • Role model correct posture, steps, forms, and choreography
  • Provide feedback to members concerning posture, steps, form, and choreography
  • Ensure new members are welcome and receive additional support with class activities
  • Set up equipment
  • Check equipment for proper functioning
  • Ensure equipment is stored properly after class
  • Recruit and mentor assistants to help deliver the class and ensure safety.
