Job Description Summary

Wentworth Institute of Technology is seeking applicants interested in joining the Wentworth community as a Coordinator of Club Sports and Summer Programs .

The Coordinator of Club Sports and Summer Programs reports to the Director of Fitness and Wellness and provides the administration and management of the Wentworth’s club sport program consisting of 5+ competitive teams at present time with over 100 students. Club sport responsibilities include coordinating team expenditures and budget management, advising sport club officers and members on general team operation, mentoring and developing team leaders, planning for emergencies and risk management, and at times providing oversight at practices and team events. The Coordinator also oversees the sport club student employees and assists with hiring, training, evaluating, scheduling, and mentoring.

Additionally, the coordinator will assist the director in providing a summer recreational programming model to support programs such as Pre- WOW (pre- Week of Welcome) events and excursions, pre-college experiences for high school students, and RAMP – Wentworth’s summer bridge program for Boston residents attending the university as first-time students each fall. The coordinator will champion a welcoming, inclusive, and holistic experience for students that prioritizes students’ well-being.

The Coordinator will serve as a member of the Center for Wellness and the Division of Student Affairs and will have opportunities to join division-wide committees.

Advertised Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in recreation, physical education, sports management, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 1 year of successful experience in Club Sports administration
  • CPR / AED Certification required within the first 3 months of hire
Advertised Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in recreational sports administration, recreational sports management, or sport management preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of recreational programming and related best practices, including, but not limited to Graduate Assistantships and Undergraduate Program Assistant experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of successful experience in Club Sports administration
  • Ability to hire, train, supervise, and motivate student leaders for competitive sports and summer camp programs.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and guidance to a diverse club sports program
  • Demonstrated success in budget management, including judicious and effective use of funds
  • Demonstrated success in working within a team environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of national trends in university club sport programs and skill to implement new programs
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
