Responsible for effectively managing the research activities of the Health Initiatives supercluster, part of a university-wide initiative to bring together faculty across many diverse disciplines to develop interdisciplinary research clusters and health tracks for academic programs.

  1. Oversees the integration of health-related research activities at the university.
  2. Works with deans, faculty, and other constituents to secure funding to support health-related research initiatives.
  3. Develops a strategic plan for health-related research and establishes best practices. Assists faculty and health research centers in the formulation of business plans and pursuit of funding opportunities.
  4. Fosters the development and growth of health-related research centers, faculty and clusters.
  5. Builds and maintains strategic partnerships with funding agencies, industry, and other academic institutions.
  6. Oversees the development and maintenance of infrastructure for the Health Initiatives supercluster and ensures efficient and effective operations.
  7. Performs other job-related duties as required.


Additional Job Information

This position will be housed in the Research Infrastructure Core that is executed by the NIH/NIMHD funded Research Centers in Minority Institutions (RCMI) U54: HEALTH Center for Addictions Research and Cancer Prevention (https://www.healthrcmi.com/). The RCMI is advancing strategies for addressing health disparities in undeserved communities by translating scientific breakthroughs into culturally-informed and community-centered dissemination and implementation strategies.

We are looking for an employee with a demonstrated record of (1) development and implementation of strategic team-science initiatives and assessment planning, (2) recruitment, selection, and advisement of junior investigators, (3) implementation of evidenced-based programming, associated research, and assessment protocols as needed to strengthen investigative research areas, and (3) commitment to health-equity science. A strong candidate would work well with a diverse team in the implementation of research projects being supported by a national center in addictions and cancer prevention. Necessary qualifications for success in this position are the capacity to be a self-starter who operates with urgency, focus, and discipline, the ability to multi-task between assignments (i.e. organizational skills), detail-oriented: quality and precision-focused, and excellent communication skills (written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal).

Qualifications :

Doctoral and 5 years experience

Requires singular knowledge of a specialized advanced professional discipline or the highest level of general business knowledge, normally acquired through attainment of a directly job-related terminal degree or equivalent formal training in a recognized field of specialization that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience.
