Position Summary

Facilities Management
Full Time
Primary Responsibilities
Troubleshoot, repair, install and maintain plumbing piping,
fixtures, and equipment used in the distribution, drainage, and
ventilation of water, water-carried waste, air, gas, and other
liquids in accordance with plumbing codes
Preforms preventative and predictive maintenance on required
systems
Provides emergency/unscheduled and scheduled maintenance
repairs of plumbing systems
Identifies root causes of failures and orders parts for
repair
Provides leadership to student and/or temporary plumbers as
assigned
Work in cooperation with other trades
Maintains a valid drivers license
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Demonstrated work history reflecting reliability and
dependability
Possess a current driver's license
Possess City of Cape Girardeau Plumber's license or obtain the
City Plumber's license test within three months of hire
Ability to work in inclement weather and live within 30 minutes
travel time from the University
Progressive work experience in plumbing in an educational,
commercial or industrial setting
Proficient knowledge of pipe materials, fittings, valves,
hangers, supports, fasteners, and piping insulation
Proficient knowledge of applicable plumbing codes, rules, and
regulations (local, state, and federal)
Work experience in reading blueprints, drawings and
specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems, water
supply networks and waste and drainage systems
Work experience in operating and maintaining hand and power
tools applicable to the trade
Ability to perform heavy lifting up to 75 pounds with or
without accommodations
Ability to work in close and confined spaces for extended
periods of time with or without accommodations
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and perform
duties with minimal supervision
Demonstrated experience and understanding of customer
service
Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment,
including working with multi-cultural populations and an
understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting women and
minorities
