Title: Librarian/E-Resources

Position Summary: To manage the library's electronic resources and to provide library instruction services to the Vol State community.

Duties and Responsibilities: Develops, maintains, evaluates, and manages access to the library's electronic resources, including databases and ebook, ejournal, and various streaming media platforms; monitors and reports usage statistics as directed. Troubleshoots access to electronic resources and library discovery interface. Works closely with others to ensure accurate metadata and holdings information within the library services platform. Provides individual and group library instruction, including specialized instruction for classes and workshops, both in-person and virtually. Advances the library instruction program by assessing and updating content and delivery methods. Works with faculty to promote instruction. Provides reference service, including nights and weekends as needed, both in-person and virtually. Oversees the organization, design, maintenance and evaluation of the library's content management products. Coordinates with the college webmaster and other staff to develop, organize, and maintain the library's website. Assists with marketing and outreach endeavors, including the use of various social media outlets. Serves as library liaison for Open Educational Resources (OER) initiatives across Vol State and TBR. Serves as a liaison with vendors and publishers, including monitoring and evaluating vendor performance. Contributes to collection development by selecting and deselecting materials to support the college's academic programs and mission. Participates in college and department meetings, serves on various college committees. Partakes in professional development activities. Monitors and engages with current trends for new resources or delivery methods for library resources and services. Serves as back up to Technical Services Librarian; serves as backup system administrator. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: M.L.S. or equivalent degree from an institution accredited by the American Library Association (ALA). Minimum 2 years of experience managing electronic resources in a library or related setting.

Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated experience with electronic resources management in all stages of the lifecycle, including acquisitions, evaluation, implementation, maintenance, support and vendor communications. Experience supporting ExLibris products such as Alma, Primo and/or PrimoVE. Alma and PrimoVE Administrative Certification. Experience using and supporting Springshare products, primarily LibGuides, LibWizard, and LibCal. Knowledge of various electronic resource management standards and tools such as but not limited to COUNTER, OpenURL, SUSHI, EDI, and EZProxy. Working knowledge of current OER resources and trends. Experience presenting, training, teaching, or equivalent. Strong knowledge of current trends and techniques related to information literacy instruction and online learning. One year of academic library experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Work Characteristics: Strong commitment to providing excellent user service for all members of the Vol State Community. Highly developed computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), web authoring tools and course management systems and virtual presentation tools (Teams, Zoom). Robust knowledge of current trends in libraries and higher education. Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work well as part of a team.

Pay Rate: 44,090.00 - 55,120.00 annual salary depending on experience
