We are looking for a bright and energetic Research Program Coordinator to join our research team. The Research Program Coordinator will assist with coordination and day-to-day logistical and operational tasks for our research protocols. Study-related tasks will include interacting with individuals affected by substance use in Baltimore.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with target population to assist with study recruitment activities
  • Assist with participant screening and enrollment (including obtaining informed consent)
  • Coordinate participant research activities and help ensure adherence to protocols
  • Assist with data collection activities, such as administering study surveys and questionnaires
  • Assist with study specimen collection and transfers for storage, processing and use
  • Help support cataloging and management of specimen organization
  • Assist with generation of data reports
  • Assist with literature reviews
  • Follow established research protocols in accordance with good clinical practice
  • Complete human subjects research and study-specific trainings as needed
  • Work with other research assistants and coordinators to ensure completion of all research related activities
  • Complete all other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field required
  • Some related experience required
  • Flexibility in work schedule
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula*

* JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience.  Additional related experience may substitute for the required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

** Applicants who do not meet the posted requirements but are completing their final academic semester/quarter will be considered eligible for employment and may be asked to provide additional information confirming their academic completion date.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Endoscopy related studies and specimen collection a plus
  • Experience with analyzing research participant databases a plus

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience working under timelines for completion of work
  • Prior coursework in biology, microbiology, infectious diseases, public health, and/or biostatistics
  • Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have the ability to work well and communicate effectively with others as part of a team
  • General knowledge of the research and basic analytical skills to administer assigned projects, and to identify situations requiring special attention
  • General knowledge to assist in developing recruitment tools for assigned studies, which may include protocol/study specific data collection forms, placing approved advertisements, and contacting physicians for possible referrals

Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
