The Office of Stewardship and Donor Engagement is a highly productive and creative part of the DAR enterprise. Our mission is to assist the institution in stewarding the gifts and relationships of donors. To achieve this work, we create and implement innovative stewardship initiatives; draft yearly and bespoke impact reports for donors; manage stewardship programs and services for our partner offices throughout the institution; and provide excellent customer service to colleagues, donors, and partners. The assistant director of donor relations will serve a key role in many aspects of this work.

Reporting to the associate director of stewardship and donor relations, the assistant director of donor relations will help with the creation, implementation, and management of stewardship programming for principal level donors.

Specific duties & responsibilities:

  • Manage production of major stewardship reports and projects, including working with project management tools to track tasks and timelines with collaborators (DAR colleagues, printers, designers, writers, etc.) to create high quality stewardship touches for major institutional donors.
  • Assist with drafting and copy-editing for original high-level impact reports, correspondence on behalf of university leadership, and donor relations collateral.
  • Serve as a strategic partner with divisional stewardship colleagues, offering resources and guidance to ensure comprehensive, coordinated stewardship and engagement of top donors.
  • Help to create and manage central stewardship resources such as project templates, reports, photo libraries, and donor-specific files.
  • Provide data-informed guidance and input for stewardship work through pulling necessary reports and data points from database and other sources.
  • Assist with projects in support of central stewardship priorities including strategy meetings, events, recognition pieces, and more.

Minimum qualifications (mandatory):

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Two years of professional related experience – experience should be in writing/editing, fundraising, donor relations/stewardship, volunteer engagement, or another relevant field.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working at an institution of higher education.
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills, in addition to the ability to collaborate with a broad spectrum of professionals, constituents, and institutional leaders.

Special knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Must possess a high-degree of social-emotional intelligence, diplomacy, and professionalism.
  • Ability to be flexible, composed, and thrive in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities, independently and as a member of a team.
  • Proven organizational skills with high-functioning attention to detail are required for managing and prioritizing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in MS Office, MS Teams, Zoom, and CRM database usage.
  • Experience with creativity and design a plus, including Canva, Microsoft Word, and Adobe.

Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
