Job Summary

Drexel University's College of Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics invites applications for a full-time, assistant teaching professor position starting 8/1/2022, renewed on a yearly basis and subject to availability of funding. The successful candidate will contribute to the department’s instructional activities in core engineering and thermal and fluid sciences areas. This person will be expected to develop and teach core engineering courses, advise students on senior design projects, participate in development of lab-based courses and help initiate new experiential learning programs.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach basic and advanced courses in core engineering and thermal and fluid sciences. Additionally, the scholar will participate in curriculum and course material development, serve on departmental committees that maintain and improve the instructional program, and participate in appropriate professional development.

Essential Functions
  • Teaching MEM undergraduate courses in the area of thermal fluid sciences
  • Essential Edit Remove
  • Developing and teaching laboratory-based courses,
  • Working with faculty to develop online/virtual lab instructional materials
  • Working with the department leadership to initiate new experiential instructional programs
  • Advising senior design teams
  • Serving in departmental committees
Required Qualifications
  • PhD or Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering with research interests in energy and thermal fluids
  • Experience in teaching core mechanical engineering courses especially in the area of thermal-fluids sciences
  • Experience in teaching laboratory-based courses
  • Experience in development and production of instructional videos for undergraduate students
  • Commitment to the education of undergraduate students
  • Proof of excellence in teaching
  • Experience in mentoring undergraduate students on hands-on research
