Supported by grant funding, CCC is implementing ambitious broad plans to expand technological equityacross its student base and the community it serves. Under its Tech Equity programming, CCC enrolls and supports high school graduates from Chicago Public Schools (CPS) by providing them with free internet service, laptops and devices, and additional digital learning supports.

CCC is expanding these services to new and existing students, including CPS and non-CPS students. Through this programming, CCC is working closely with a variety of partners including CPS, the City of Chicago, and service providers to identify and implement strategies that will improve post-secondary success for both CPS graduates and existing CCC students in need of digital supports. The expanding programming offered under CCC’s Tech Equity umbrella will provide both incoming and existing students with robust and holistic supports and resources that not only meet their technological needs, but also connect them to academic and support services to ensure their successful matriculation at CCC and beyond. The (final position title) will serve as the primary representative to students through the recruitment, ongoing support, and coaching that they provide across all Tech Equity programs.


Reporting to the Senior Project Manager of Strategic Initiatives, theTech Equity Specialistis part of a team responsible for implementing plans to improve the post-secondary success of prospective and current CCC students in need of digital supports, providing them with information and assistance on accessing free technological resources under CCC’s Technical Equity initiative.

TheTech Equity Specialistconducts outreach and engages with high school students as well as prospective and existing CCC students that qualify for Tech Equity, and provides information, support, and guidance on how to access these services once enrolled at one of CCC’s colleges. TheTech Equity Specialistalso helps facilitate the enrollment and ongoing support of students, and counsels them in identifying and accessing academic as well as support services that will ensure their success at CCC and beyond. Performs related duties as required.

  • Ensures selected student population is aware of the opportunities available to them within CCC related to Tech Equity programming, including access to free internet service, laptops and associated computer devices, and other academic programming and support services that provide digital learning supports and technological resources.
  • Serves as the primary and continuous point-of-contact to all students enrolled in programs under the Tech Equity umbrella to ensure that they are aware of program requirements, have the resources and knowledge to complete these requirements, and are aware of and enrolled in appropriate and relevant academic programs to ensure their compliance with program requirements, and are successful during their tenure at CCC.
  • Supports students enrolled in programs under the Tech Equity umbrella to understand barriers that they may be facing, including academic, and directs those students towards resources to overcome those barriers.
  • Strategizes and proposes additional academic and community-based supports to be developed as components within the Tech Equity programming that directly address and alleviate barriers faced by enrolled students.
  • Connects students with appropriate college staff to help ensure students receive needed support to aid them through the enrollment process and the removal of potential barriers to student success.
  • Facilitates the enrollment of students in the Tech Equity program (free connectivity, devices, and/or digital supports) and/or the ACE Scholarship Program (financial supports and technology devices).
  • Works with the key stakeholders to communicate with internet service providers (ISPs), CPS, the City of Chicago, and other relevant partners to conduct student account verification and enrollment.
  • Reviews invoices and bills relating to student services paid through the Tech Equity Program and other relevant initiatives.
  • Assists in developing additional outreach and engagement strategies for qualifying students.
  • Prepares reports and presentations to funders, CCC faculty and staff, and other relevant organizations.
  • Develops mechanisms to track student enrollment, evaluate efforts, and improve effectiveness.
  • Leads engagement of qualifying CPS graduates as well as new and existing CCC students to aid them in successfully navigating the enrollment process and transitioning to a CCC student.
  • Creates outreach plans and conducts follow-up with qualifying CPS graduates and current CCC students to ensure awareness of CCC programs and that they are supported throughout their completion of the enrollment process, and to connect them to the college campus of their choosing.
  • Collaborates with external stakeholders to develop and implement strategies across the City to identify and support student technological needs.
  • Prepares updates regarding program participants’ enrollment and retention.
  • Serves as a liaison between qualifying CPS graduates and CCC’s Admissions and Student Services Offices.
  • Ensures that students are aware of and connected to services and resources throughout their tenure at CCC to promote persistence and success.

Direct Supervision


  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Three years of work experience working in student services, preferably at a community college
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred
  • Must be available for occasional travel to CPS high schools and CCC campuses
  • Must be able to work some evenings and weekends
  • Passion for supporting students, especially first-generation college goers in pursuit of their goals
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of CCC academic programs and pathways, enrollment procedures, and financial aid preferred
  • Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
