Music Division
The Music Division of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) invites applicants for a Visiting Assistant Professor/Assistant Director of Bands (one year appointment). We seek a collaborative music educator who will assist with all aspects of the UTC band program and work with our music faculty as an instrumental music education specialist.
Requirements: Collaborate with the Director of Bands on all musical and administrative aspects of the UTC Band Program, including recruitment; Assist Director of Bands with the Marching Band; Conduct Pep Band; Serve as Associate Conductor of the UTC Wind Ensemble . Teach instrumental music education methods courses. Additional teaching assignments based on area of expertise and experience.
Qualifications: Master's degree required in music education; doctorate preferred. Candidates must clearly demonstrate a successful track record in leading marching and concert bands at the K-12 level, with teaching experience at the university level desired. The successful candidate will demonstrate success as an instrumental music director and teacher who is skilled in the organizational aspects of a university band program.
Employment Date: August 1, 2022
Salary: $54,000- $56,000

About the Department
The Music Division at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) has 24 faculty members and is approaching 100 majors pursuing degrees in performance, music education, music therapy and composition. UTC is an accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music. The Music Division is housed in the newly renovated (2020) Fine Arts Center and Cadek Hall. The Fine Arts Center is home to the 500-seat Roland Hayes Concert Hall and the UTC Bands rehearsal space and offices.
