    Department Summary
    The Division of Undergraduate Education and Student Success (UESS) promotes academic excellence, universal access, engagement and achievement for the student scholar. UESS programs focus on the educational trajectory of the student by providing opportunities and services essential for progress toward scholastic objectives and intellectual development. UESS departments and programs serve the entire population of UO undergraduate students and partner closely with other campus units to support student success and engagement.

    UESS departments and programs include: the Accessible Education Center (AEC); Center for Undergraduate Research and Engagement (CURE), Office of Distinguished Scholarships (ODS), and McNair Scholars Program; Academic Residential Communities (ARCs), First-Year Interest Groups (FIGs) and Common Reading; Summer Academy to Inspire Learning (SAIL); Office of Academic Advising (OAA) - including the Health Professions Program, PathwayOregon and Student Support Services; Center for Multicultural and Academic Excellence Advising; Tykeson Hall Academic and Career Advising; Tutoring and Academic Engagement Center; and UESS Administration.

    The UESS Administration office provides strategic direction and leadership to the division to effectively promote and administer campus-wide student success and engagement efforts. The UESS Admin team provides centralized business and program support to each of its departments and programs.
    Position Summary
    The Administrative Manager is responsible for providing human resources, high-level administrative, analytical, and project management support for the Division of Undergraduate Education and Student Success. Administrative Manager works collaboratively with the divisional leadership to facilitate and manage HR policies and procedures for recruiting, hiring, training and evaluating staff and to ensure consistent and equitable practices across the division. This position oversees the collection, dissemination and development of UESS administrative policies and procedures and serves as a divisional liaison for administrative offices such as IT, telecommunication, and facilities. This position also performs office management duties for the central administration and several units within UESS and provides project management support for divisional initiatives. This position reports to the Assistant Vice Provost for Strategic Initiatives and Administration and is part of the UESS leadership team. This position requires the ability to work independently, exercise good judgment with regard to highly sensitive/confidential issues and demonstrate excellent administrative and interpersonal skills. The Administrative Manager must exhibit professionalism, collegiality in a team environment, and the ability to create a welcoming, inclusive, accessible, and professional atmosphere in the office. This person must possess cultural humility and agility, with the ability and commitment to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
    Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of skills and experience
  • Five years of professional work experience managing projects and providing office management, and/or similar.
    Professional Competencies
  • Demonstrated high-level organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively in a fast-paced, detail oriented, and time sensitive environment.
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills to produce correspondence, documents, reports, and presentation using impeccable grammar and proofreading skills
  • Ability to recognize situations that warrant initiative and moves forward without hesitation; resolving issues, problems, or situations; taking decisive action to facilitate the optimal use of the executive's time.
  • Ability to manage stressful, and often confidential, situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to manage projects independently from beginning to end, including identifying pivotal objectives, milestones, and timelines.
  • Commitment to, experience with, and ability to work effectively with people from a variety of diverse backgrounds and cultures in support of a welcoming and inclusive environment.
  • Proven proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook (or similar scheduling/calendar program).
    Preferred Qualifications
  • Project management experience coordinating a large-scale administrative project
  • Professional experience in a higher education environment or other large public organization such as federal/state government
  • Two years of professional work experience managing human resources functions in a large office setting,
