    Department Summary
    University Health Services (UHS) is a unit within the Division of Student Services and Enrollment Management and is a nationally accredited (AAAHC) outpatient clinic providing primary care to students at the University of Oregon. All staff are required to uphold the values of the UHS.

    This position works in support of the University Health Services mission and vision and is consistent with UO policy. Some aspects of this position may be completed in collaboration with other University departments.
    Position Summary
    The Health Promotion/Community Health Manager is responsible for managing the overall staff and operations of Health Promotion/Community Health within the University Health Services. The Health Promotion team is focused on promoting student success by creating supportive environments for health that enable students to thrive. This is accomplished through primary and secondary prevention efforts with the goal of improving the health outcomes for students and takes place throughout the university community and within the Duck Nest Wellness Center. The Health Promotion team aligns with the mission of the University, the University Health Services, and other health promoting entities on campus to achieve its work. Health Promotion incorporates multicultural, diversity and health equity concepts and principles into health and wellbeing programs and services, developing culturally appropriate programs for UO students with special consideration for underrepresented populations.

    This position is responsible for the development, implementation, and assessment of health and wellbeing programming, management of the Duck Nest Wellness Center, and leading a team of health promotion specialists and student peer health advocates and educators who help implement programming designed to address key health outcomes that need to be improved. These health outcomes include mental health, social connection, stress management, sexual health, sleep health, physical wellbeing including healthy eating, movement, body image, and tobacco and other substance abuse prevention/cessation efforts.

    The Health Promotion/Community Health manager also is responsible for developing and evaluating health and wellbeing interventions and programming, managing a fiscally responsible department budget including that of the Duck Nest Wellness Center; advocating for policies and a built environment that address campus and community health; coordinating health and wellbeing outreach and marketing initiatives; evaluating campus outreach effectiveness; assessing student peer health advocate learning outcomes; implementing and responding to quality improvement studies; supporting staff development; and other functions as necessary.

    This position also represents UHS through the development and maintenance of collaborative relationships that foster and promote health and wellbeing within the university community and with outside organizations. Programming is developed in collaboration with campus and community partners and is conveyed through the Duck Nest Wellness Center and in the community.

    This position reports to the Director of Public Health Practices and serves as a member on the UHS Leadership Team.
    Minimum Requirements
  • Master's Degree in public health, health promotion, health education, health policy, health administration, community health, social work, counseling, or related field
  • Three years' experience supervising or leading the work of others. Experience must include hiring, training, assigning and reviewing work, and providing formal performance evaluations.
  • Two years' experience working in a healthcare- or community health-based health promotion/community health position

    Special Qualifications:
  • Position requires successful completion of a criminal background check and routine screening of Medicaid and Medicare Exclusion Lists. Employee loses eligibility for employment if on the List of Excluded Individuals and Entities (LEIE) and/or System of Award Management (SAM).
  • Must be in compliance with UHS policies regarding tuberculosis screening, measles and mumps (MMR), seasonal flu, hepatitis B, and other immunization requirements.

  • Demonstrated experience with and/or commitment to working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, in support of an inclusive and welcoming environment
    Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years' experience working within a college health environment
  • Experience with facility management, including staffing, budget management, program development, and evaluation.
  • Experience mentoring and working with students
