Department Summary
The Department of Earth Sciences is an instructional department within the College of Arts and Sciences that supports significant research activities in a wide range of fields in Earth and Environmental Science. The Department includes approximately 30 faculty (including TTF and NTTF), many of whom have large research grants, 42 graduate students, 90 undergraduate majors, five research associates, five post-docs, two classified employees, eight student employees, emeritus faculty, and various visiting professors, courtesy professors, and career and pro tem instructors.

Position Summary
The Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Oregon is soliciting applications for its open applicant pool. Positions are limited duration teaching appointments that are part time or short term, contracts not to exceed one year. Possibility of renewal up to a total of three years, depending on program needs, funding, and performance. Successful candidates will have the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students from a variety of diverse backgrounds.

Example appointments include summer instructors and academic year instructors.

Minimum Requirements
Master's degree in geology or related area

In exceptional circumstances, significant professional experience may be considered in place of a master's/advanced degree.

Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D.
