The Nursing program at Portland Community College is seeking multiple full-time instructors.
The Portland Community College Nursing program is a member of the Oregon Consortium for Nursing Education (OCNE) . Admitted nursing students have the option of completing a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing at Oregon Health and Science University after completing two years at PCC and earning the Associate of Applied Science in Nursing degree (AAS).
Faculty prepare students to enter the nursing profession, enabling them to respond to changing healthcare needs of individuals and communities in various healthcare settings. The Nursing program values access to a learning community that is evidence-based, student-centered, and culturally sensitive. We promote curiosity and student success for the achievement of academic goals in a caring, safe, and respectful environment.
Central to nursing education is a positive, caring, supportive, and respectful student-teaching relationship that promotes growth toward professional and personal development. The faculty recognize and value the uniqueness of each student and implement a variety of innovative teaching strategies to promote self-direction in learning.
These full-time instructor positions are based out of PCC’s Sylvania Campus and require experience and the ability to teach a broad range of nursing courses, as well as the ability to develop future coursework in alignment with industry, accreditation and state regulation. Nursing instructors perform all duties of full-time faculty at PCC and in particular:
These positions serve a Nursing program that currently spans across multiple PCC locations. The primary location will be Sylvania Campus, with an expectation that faculty members teach at any location where PCC Nursing courses are offered. In addition, there will be some occasions where business will be required at other PCC or off-site locations. There will be some opportunities for remote/hybrid work, as approved by the position supervisor and executive leaders.

PCC offers a comprehensive benefit package designed to provide employees and their families, including domestic partners, with access to a broad range of benefit options. PCC offers a tax deferred annuity program and a deferred compensation program where employees may save additional pre-tax dollars for retirement.
Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waiver for courses offered at PCC for yourself, domestic partner, and dependent children under 24 years of age; plus partial tuition reimbursement for yourself at other accredited institutions.

- Experience in healthcare education in a variety of modalities or educational delivery methods
- Ability to ensure program adherence to credentialing bodies (OSBN & ACEN) professional qualifications and standards
- Experience working with multiple industry partners and both internal and external stakeholders to creatively and collaboratively seek continuous improvement in reaching program outcomes and student success
- Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, technology, as well as staff and student mentoring
- Proven instructional experience with diverse audiences d emonstrating an ability to create and nurture a sense of community, well-being, and belonging
- Drive collaborative, evidence-based change, innovation, and capacity-building in a dynamic program, successfully applying a solution-focused instructional approach, program review, evaluation of current and future issues/trends, and advocacy for diversity, equity and belonging

- Master’s degree in Nursing and maintain expertise in one’s areas of responsibility, have at least three years of nursing experience, and hold a current unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in Oregon,
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and maintain expertise in one’s areas of responsibility, have at least five years of nursing experience, and hold a current unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in Oregon.
- Experience teaching at a community college and/or in an undergraduate nursing program preferred
- Experience with OCNE or concept-based curriculum in nursing education preferred
