Assistant Athletic Director

Skidmore College invites applications for the 12-month, full-time position in the athletics department. The Assistant Director of Athletics serves as a member of the department’s leadership team that is committed to excellence and is responsible for assisting with the overall administration of the Department of Athletics, Fitness and Recreation. Serving as the Coordinator of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for Athletics, this position will provide leadership in promoting and enhancing the department’s efforts in these areas. Additionally, this position manages the use of all athletic facilities which strengthens the departments opportunity to engage with students, faculty/staff and the local community. A demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, work as part of a team and motivate staff in a fast-paced environment is necessary. A desire to engage in DEI work is imperative.

Education:

A Bachelor’s degree in related field is required with preference given to those with a Master’s degree (Sports Management or Higher Ed Admin) or equivalent.

Requirements:

A minimum of two years of collegiate athletic administrative experience is required as well as a commitment to the NCAA Division III philosophy, rules and regulations. Candidates must also have the ability to work nights, weekends and holidays depending on work and game schedules.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to: Serving as the Chair of the department’s DEI Working Group and serving as the NCAA Athletics Diversity and Inclusion Designee (ADID); assisting with the oversight, management and maintenance of facilities (including scheduling practices, contests for 19 varsity teams, recreational offerings, intramurals, student groups and outside users); ensuring that facilities are properly supervised, and required maintenance and repairs scheduled accordingly; manage the facility rental agreements during the academic year; coordinate and supervise staff and students assigned to game management activities including set-up / breakdown of events and Livestreaming/recording events where appropriate; promoting attendance at athletic contests and working with student performance groups to entertain when appropriate; assisting with the coordination of FOSA (Friends of Skidmore Athletics) events and department special events will be required. Additionally, this position will hire, supervise, schedule and train student-workers to work in the Williamson Sports Center.

Pay Range: Commensurate with experience
