Position Description

The University of Washington Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology has four (4) academic positions available at the rank of Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor without tenure (WOT) by reason of funding, with clinical duties at Seattle Children's Hospital.  These positions are without tenure and are full-time and part-time.  Assistant Professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments and Associate and Full Professors WOT hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1 - June 30).  Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.  The anticipated start date is August 2022 or soon thereafter.  Duties include the teaching of residents, fellows and medical students and supervision of the clinical care team.  Successful candidates will provide laboratory medicine or pathology services at Seattle Children’s Hospital.  University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.  Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

Must have PhD, MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent).  Must be Board certified or eligible (or foreign equivalent) in their specialty area in laboratory medicine or pathology and must be eligible for medical licensure in state of Washington, if applicable.  Must have a minimum of one-year fellowship training (or foreign equivalent) in their area of expertise for laboratory medicine or pathology.  In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-US) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the US Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
