FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Nutrition Program at Hunter College invites applications for a full-time faculty position, to begin August 2022. The position would entail serving as the Director of the ACEND accredited Dietetic Internship (DI) Program, overseeing the supervised experiential learning component including clinical placements for other graduate nutrition students, and teaching graduate/undergraduate nutrition courses.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

Coordinating, scheduling, and managing supervised practice experiences, assessment of student progress toward achieving competency required by ACEND standards. Provide direct oversight to interns in rotations, assist with the management of interns, select and evaluate supervised practice sites, and recruit, orient, and evaluate preceptors. Initiate and maintain clinical contracts. Effectively teach graduate level practicum and other nutrition courses. Promote student recruitment and retention, as well as marketing of the program. Maintain adherence to ACEND accreditation standards. Performs teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise. Shares responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions.

QUALIFICATIONS

For Assistant Professor:

Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

For Instructor:

Master's degree in area(s) of expertise, and/or active progress toward a Doctorate, or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, interest in productive scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. For the Instructor title, faculty must complete the Assistant Professor requirement for the relevant doctoral degree within five years.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Earned Doctoral degree in the field of Nutrition and Dietetics or a closely related field with a minimum of three years of professional experience, post credentialing as a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist by the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Candidates with Master’s degree with extensive, 5+ years post credentialing administrative and professional experience may be considered. In-person and online, college level teaching experience as a primary instructor. Effective oral and written communication skills. Active membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Prior clinical work experiences and leadership experience with an ACEND-accredited Dietetics program. Experience as a preceptor to dietetic interns. Preference will be given to candidates who have previous experience as a DI Director.

The successful candidate will have experience teaching graduate nutrition courses.

Vaccine Requirement:

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.
