Position Announcement

Reporting to the Executive Director of Campus Life and Wellness with Student Affairs, this position is responsible for the coordination of student life engagement programing and activities with a specific focus on resident life as a part of on-campus housing. This coordination will be done through the lens of a comprehensive wellness perspective. This involves but not limited to overseeing the development of on campus programming leading to the development of off-campus resident programming, establishing strong student communities, and promoting a robust social and educational environment that promotes student connections, enhances student engagements, through the building of positive relationships. Supervise assigned part-time Student Engagement Leaders.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the day-to-day student life, and student engagement programming with the initial & primary focus on resident life for all on-campus residents.
  • Begin developing and coordinating, in collaboration with the Executive Director of Campus Life & Wellness an off-campus resident student engagement program.
  • Supervise part-time Student Engagement Leaders, including weekly one-to-one meetings, conducting annual performance evaluations, and by extension, coordinate all day-to-day student life and engagement programming.
  • Lead out, advise, and enhance a robust comprehensive Resident Hall Association for on-campus residents.
  • Oversee the development of a community and educational environment that encourages student connections, positive relationships, and student success.
  • Plan and implement programming from a wellness perspective to promote student engagements and connections to the campus.
  • Assist the Executive Director of Campus Life & Wellness to identify, develop and implement a holistic student engagement plan to encourage student success and connections across campus.
  • Assist in the management and updating of Campus Life & Wellness social media accounts to promote the Resident & Student Life programming.
  • Establish a strong, positive, collaborative, working relationship between Housing & Student Engagement. Ensure a supportive affiliation where Student Engagement leaders support and assist Resident Assistants when needed.
  • Plan, organize, and assist in the facilitation of a centralized process for student staff recruitment, selection, placement, and training. Select, train, supervise and evaluate the Student Engagement Team, including conducting weekly staff meetings and one-to-one meetings.
  • Plan, schedule, prep and facilitate student summer activities, orientations, and the Freshmen Kickoff Week, in coordination with other University departments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience working in student engagement, residence life, student involvement, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of student engagement and student involvement theories and programming required.
  • Computer proficiency, with good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (particularly Word and Outlook) required.
  • Strong organizational skills, with ability to respond to, and concentrate on, multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills required, with the ability to interact with a diverse group of individuals and campus departments in establishing and maintaining effective and positive relationships.
  • Outgoing personality, with a history of demonstrating dependability, reliability, and initiative.
Supplemental Information

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: Full-time professional staff (overtime-exempt) position. Annual salary of $40,000 - $43,000, depending on qualifications and experience. Desired start date of July 2022.
