Job Description

The Bioinformatics and Analytics Core at the University of Missouri is seeking talented and engaging individuals for our Data Analyst III openings.

This position includes the following, but not limited to, responsibilities:

25% - Genomics and Multi-omics Analyses - Perform bioinformatics analysis in support of scientific research using technical knowledge of software and its implementation in a high-performance computing infrastructure. Perform next generation sequence (NGS) data analysis (bulk RNA-seq, ChiP-seq, scRNAseq, ATAC-seq, HiC-seq etc.) and integrate with data present in publicly available databases.

25% - Software Development-Manage assigned research projects with minimal input. Develop and/or modify software to support new and ongoing research projects.

20% - Statistical Analyses - Apply and develop algorithms and workflows with embedded statistical methods in standardized and innovative ways that will analyze, integrate, visualize, and interpret a broad variety of data types. Direct and execute computational workflows to analyze large scale data sets and work closely with domain researchers to help them interpret complex results. Test and troubleshoot new cutting-edge methods. The implementation of novel data visualization techniques for various data types is just one example of the many exciting opportunities in this position.

10% - Developing and delivering training and workshops.

10% - Manuscript Writing - Prepare research reports for presentation and assist with preparation of manuscripts for publication and grants for submission.

10% - Data and Database Management

Remote work (telework) is a possibility for this position.
This position has the potential to be primarily remote work with an expectation of occasional onsite meetings and presentations. Candidates must be able to work onsite in Columbia, MO, for 1 week every quarter. All candidates are encouraged to read the University’s telework arrangement policy.

Salary

$75,000 – $145,000

Shift

8-5, Monday - Friday

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience, and at least 6 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Master of Science in a STEM related field or at least experience in a data science, informatics, computational biology, software development or related position. Any of the following certifications are bonuses and can substitute for 1 year of experience or education: CAP (certified analytics professional), Fellows of AMIA (FAMIA), PMP, AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, and Linux.
