In support of the University's mission of decolonization, furthering diversity and creating safe and inclusive learning environments for native students and various marginalized/minoritized students, the Coordinator of Native and Intercultural Student Affairs will be responsible for supporting and advocating for Native students who receive the Native American Waiver and Education Program (NAWEP) and from all other historically marginalized/minoritized groups.

The responsibility extends to developing a comprehensive program plan focusing on co-curricular multicultural education and programming for native and all diverse students, coordinating diversity and inclusiveness awareness initiatives, facilitating decolonization, and community building within the USM campus community for native students and all marginalized/minoritized students. This position will work collaboratively with students, staff, faculty, and community members to build a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for Native students and various marginalized/minoritized students at the three campuses.

This is a full-time position with an annual salary up to $45,000 commensurate with experience and will be located on either our Portland or Gorham Campus.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience (including program development); OR progress toward Bachelor's degree with completion no later than the start of the 2022 fall semester)
  • Demonstrated commitment and knowledge of best practices in the field of diversity and inclusion in higher education.

As the Coordinator of Affinity Leadership and Cultural Programs for Native and Intercultural Students will be responsible for supporting and advocating for Native students and from all other historically underrepresented groups application materials should demonstrate an understanding of, and experience with, a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
