Job Summary:

Upham Woods Outdoor Learning Center is a residential facility operated by the University of Wisconsin-Extension and located in pristine forests along the beautiful Wisconsin River, two miles north of Wisconsin Dells. The Upham Woods Outdoor Learning Center seeks a reliable and detail-oriented Custodian responsible for:
- Cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining a variety of buildings related to Upham Woods including the dormitory, Lodge, Dining Hall, Nature Center, Bathhouse and Cabins.
- Monitoring building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours.
- Ensuring cleanliness, orderliness, and safety in assigned areas.

A successful background check will be required prior to employment.

Responsibilities:

Cleans facilities, removes waste and recycling, and monitors building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours. Ensures cleanliness, orderliness, and safety in assigned areas.
  • 75% Utilizes basic equipment and supplies to clean assigned facility areas and remove waste and recyclables
  • 10% Monitors and secures facility interior and exterior entrances and reports issues to appropriate entities
  • 5% Maintains organization of supply areas and equipment, documents inventory, and requests additional supplies as needed
  • 5% Documents and reports repairs, violations, and pest control needs
  • 5% Maintains clean and clear walkways to ensure they are free of debris, litter, snow, and ice

Work Schedule:

The schedule for the full time ongoing position will generally be 9am to 5:30pm Mon - Fri with occasional weekend shifts when we have groups on site overnight.

During the "off season" the schedule will be variable based on when we have groups on site but not more than one day per week.

Work Type:

Full or Part Time: 12.5% - 100%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Additional Information:

Please be aware that this position's FTE will change seasonally. We anticipate the position to be 100% FTE from May to October and 12.5% FTE from November through April.
