Job Description:

The Director, Development and Community Engagement provides leadership and administrative management and supervision of the WSRE Development for WSRE PBS, the public television station licensed to Pensacola State College. The non-profit station delivers PBS programming and local productions along with educational and community engagement events for its Northwest Florida/Coastal Alabama coverage area. Responsibilities include fundraising activities, membership drives, event support, program underwriting, direct mail, telemarketing, web fundraising, grant proposals, membership, mid-level and major gift initiatives, database management, matching fund programs, capital campaigns and other fundraising activities. The Director, Development and Community Engagement will engage prospects and donors to meet WSRE’s short and long-term programming and project fundraising goals and develop long term relationships with donors to negotiate and close major gifts, planned giving arrangements and other types of gifts. This position reports to the General Manager, WSRE.

SALARY RANGE: $42,230.00 - $62,000.00

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or other sales/promotion/fundraising area and five years of progressively responsible management experience in development/fundraising/sales or marketing/public relations. Nine years progressively responsible management experience in a comparable development/fundraising position may substitute for the required degree and experience. Successful results of a criminal background check are required.

Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.
