Position Summary

University Facilities Environment, Health & Safety Services (EH&S) is seeking a Special Projects Coordinator that will report directly to the EH&S Associate Director.

Key roles and responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:
  • Coordinate special projects for Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) Services for all three campuses.
  • Self select and be assigned by the EH&S Director to key initiatives and projects required to maintain compliance with critical regulatory issues and promote EH&S programs to the campus.
  • Maintain frequent oral and written communication with internal technical specialists representing a broad scope of EH&S disciplines and with key campus personnel representing many levels within the university organization and UB administrators.
  • Independently recognize unsafe conditions and issues that place the University at risk of significant regulatory violations. Act accordingly to facilitate correction or otherwise address such findings.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associates, Bachelors or Advanced degree in Business, Information Technology, EH&S related discipline or a similar field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in EH&S related work including information technology applications and business systems
  • At least 2 years of experience with preparing performance metrics information
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated customer service experience.
  • Detailed knowledge and use of computer programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc..

Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 or more years of experience in performing EH&S functions in higher education or governmental environment
  • 2 or more years of experience in using business systems related to EH&S, Emergency Management and/or Facilities Operations.
  • Experience in Web Site design and maintenance
  • 2 or more years of demonstrated experience working as a liaison to information technology specialists
