Lecturer (FT) 2022-23 

The Department of Sociology and Criminology in the College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position, teaching four courses per semester. Qualified applicants will have a PhD, with a demonstrated track-record of excellence in teaching, and expertise in at least one of the following areas: Criminology and or the Criminal Justice System, Health Disparities, Medical Sociology, Social Inequality: Race/Ethnicity/Nationality, Class, and Gender/Sexuality. The Department of Sociology and Criminology currently consists of twelve faculty members, teaching and conducting research with specializations in Social Inequality, Medical Sociology, Urban Sociology, Ethnography, Criminology, and Black Feminism(s).  Howard University’s Department of Sociology and Criminology offers programs leading to the BA, MA., or the Ph.D. degree.  

 Required Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate in Sociology or Criminology from an accredited institution;  
  • Record of excellent teaching, and student mentorship; and
  • Effective communication and organizational skills
