Position Summary:

If so, the Department of Economics and Finance at the University of Dayton, located in Dayton, OH, invites you to apply for a Lecturer position specializing in Economics to begin on August 16, 2022. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced business professionals as well as academics to set students on a pathway of success.

The Department of Economics and Finance invites applications for a non-tenure track position at the rank of Lecturer beginning August 16, 2022. This is a nine month position with the possibility of renewal. The successful candidate for this appointment will teach a 4-4 load, including Principles of Microeconomics, Principles of Macroeconomics and possibly other elective course(s), and also participate in service duties. Lecturers generally participate in departmental service and extra-departmental programs, curricular projects, and community engagement activities. Lecturers may choose to participate in the university’s promotion process leading to Principal and Senior Lecturer statuses commensurate with years of service, professional development, and continued excellence in teaching.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Graduate degree in economics or with an Economics emphasis.
  • Teaching or presentation experience in economics or related fields
  • Effective written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may meet all preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
  • Successful teaching experience in economics as the instructor of record
  • Continued engagement with new developments in the economics discipline (e.g., Ph.D., current research or other programming)
  • Effective classroom management skills
  • Effective oral communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Successful experience collaborating with constituents across campus (i.e., faculty, staff, students, and administration) and/or in a professional setting
  • Successful experience teaching and/or mentoring individuals from socially and culturally diverse communities
  • Commitment to breadth of education including educating the whole person in the Marianist tradition and a commitment of service to the community, university and profession
