Position Summary:

If so, the University of Dayton School of Business Administration invites you to apply today for a Lecturer position to begin on August 16, 2022!

The School of Business Administration invites applications for a non tenure track Lecturer to teach the introduction to the School of Business Administration and Introduction to Business courses required of all first-year business students. This position provides an exciting opportunity for experienced business professionals as well as academics to set students on a pathway of success. The introduction to the School of Business Administration course assists students in their transition to the University of Dayton and the School of Business Administration, and the Introduction to Business course provides students with a foundation in all business disciplines.

The School of Business Administration emphasizes experiential, hands-on learning in a supportive environment that welcomes new ideas and seeks to ensure that students receive an outstanding business education. The successful candidate will join a cohesive and collaborative team that works closely together and with other business faculty to keep the material current and relevant.

Key duties for this position involve teaching 12 credit hours of business courses per semester during the two-semester academic year and collaborative engagement with colleagues within the School of Business Administration and across campus, and in the business community. The position also requires regular service on committees within the School of Business Administration and representing the School on University committees. This is a nine-month position, beginning August 16, 2022, with possibility of renewal. Lecturers may choose to participate in the university’s promotion process leading to Principal and Senior Lecturer statuses commensurate with years of service, professional development, and continued excellence in teaching.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A graduate degree and five years of professional business experience, or an undergraduate degree and 10 years of professional business experience.
  • Successful teaching in higher education or presentation experience in business related content
  • Effective written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may meet all preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
  • An undergraduate degree in a business related discipline from an AACSB or EQUIS accredited business school
  • A graduate degree in business related discipline from an AACSB or EQUIS accredited business school.
  • Successful experience in one or more of the following:
    -undergraduate teaching, especially first-year students, at an AACSB or EQUIS accredited business school
    -experiential and active learning strategies that foster and maintain student engagement
    -teaching and mentoring individuals from socially and culturally diverse communities
    -developing opportunities for business students in the corporate community
    -collaborating with constituents within the School of Business and across campus (i.e., faculty, -staff, students, and administration) and/or with members of the business community
  • Proficient and able to teach basic skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Familiarity with other Microsoft Office software programs
  • An appreciation of the University's Catholic and Marianist values of theory to practice, practical wisdom, experiential learning, and community.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Effective oral communication skills
  • Effective classroom management skills
