The Simulation Technologist is an academic year (10 months) position that provides operational support for simulation initiatives at Husson University. This includes set-up, implementation, and breakdown of all components of a simulation, maintenance of the simulation space, and assisting the Coordinator of Simulation Education faculty training related to simulation.Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Provides equipment and software management (hardware and software). This includes maintenance and diagnostics of both.
  • Maintains a record of the use of human patient simulators and associated equipment related to: utilization, performance, maintenance, system upgrades and user satisfaction.
  • Serves as the liaison between the hardware and software companies. Upgrade both equipment and software to keep current with expanding technology.
  • Consults with IT department to ensure new and existing equipment aligns with current servers and platforms.
  • Provides troubleshooting for simulator software and hardware.
  • Responsible for training faculty, adjuncts, and staff on use of hardware and software.
  • Provides oversight of a library of how-to guides for faculty.
  • Controls patient simulator during scenario-based training sessions.
  • Hosts simulation center tours as requested.
  • Sets up for simulation activities prior to the event, including space, equipment, manikins, moulage, and electronic medical records.
  • Cleans up and resets simulation rooms, including debriefing rooms. This includes restocking the supply cart, cleaning moulage, cleaning and rinsing manikins, changing/restocking linens, and removing extraneous supplies.
  • Provides technical support for faculty for specific application systems for simulated experiences (e.g., CAE, EHR tutor, EHRgo, Juno and Laerdal systems, etc.).
  • Assists with logging the use of all simulation equipment related to: utilization, performance, maintenance, system upgrades and user satisfaction.

  • Associate or Bachelor Degree in technology or health care field preferred.
  • Experience working with web-based computer technology and A/V equipment.
  • Experience working in health care, higher education, and/or simulation preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic medical equipment and terms preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, organizational skills, self-motivated, and ability to work with diverse groups (students, faculty, staff).
  • Requires the ability to collaborate professionally and work in a team.
