This position will be located in the Physics Machine Shop.
Researches, plans, and implements the design, construction, assembly, testing, troubleshooting and maintenance of research tools and equipment.
- Designs and builds scientific equipment and/or instruments to facilitate research efforts.
- Compiles and analyzes operational, test, and research data to implement research and design concepts into equipment design and construction.
- Provides electronic and system level troubleshooting of prototype devices to aid product development and improves existing equipment to achieve desired functionality.
- Drafts designs and builds prototypes of scientific equipment and/or instruments.
- May write technical documentation and related reports as needed.
- Evaluates and recommends design modifications.
- Provides technical support, guidance and expertise to students and faculty staff regarding all phases of front-end engineering, including design, construction and implementation.
- Tests components, instruments and equipment and provides solutions to technical problems.
- Performs other job-related duties as required.

Qualifications :
Bachelors and 7 years experience
Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of directly job-related experience.
