Summary of Job Duties:Under general direction, acts as a key contact for employees & supervisors and provides support involving payroll and other employee compensation processes. Works in tandem with the other HR staff to accomplish departmental goals and to provide support for the associate director, director, and other staff as required. The position reports to Associate Director, Classification and Compensation and is governed by state and federal laws and institutional policy.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in HR, business admin or related field; plus 2 years of related experience. Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for part of these requirements.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Workday or other HCM platform

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: To perform the job successfully, the following competencies are required for the essential functions of this position:

  • Knowledge of state and federal personnel laws, policies, and procedures as they relate to personnel management.

  • Ability to work in a technological environment demonstrating proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and Banner data base application.
Essential Job Duties:
  • Monitor, process, and audit employee compensation including timesheets, leave accruals and usage, and employee life cycle events.
  • Prepare, monitor, and analyze compensation and classification reports.
  • Provide support to managers through training and communication regarding compensation and classification.
  • Complete employment onboarding tasks with new and current employees to ensure compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Serve as a liaison with campus and outside agency stakeholders regarding state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Responsible for maintaining a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to foster teamwork and by providing leadership to subordinates.
  • Requires consistent on-time attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working Relationships: Has frequent contact with employees, personnel from other state agencies and institutions, and infrequent contact with the general public.

Special Job Dimensions: Work performed primarily in an office setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly exhibits digital dexterity when entering data into computer. The employee frequently sits for extended periods of time, and occasionally stands and walks. Vision demands include close, relatively detailed vision when focusing on a computer screen. Employee regularly talks and hears. Employee occasionally lifts items up to 50 pounds. Routine work schedule Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm with occasional overtime and travel required

Salary Information:

$33,000-35,000/year
