Assistant Director, Leadership Relations

About the Opportunity

The Assistant Director of Leadership Relations must be able to execute multiple projects, tasks and priorities that support the Office of University Advancement's Leadership Relations departmental efforts to engage next generation of Northeastern's Global Leaders, Women Who Empower Ambassadors and emerging philanthropists.

This position supports the Executive Director of Leadership Relations and Director of Leadership Networks. The ideal candidate establishes and communicates volunteer leadership recruitment time lines, volunteer initiatives, and important one-time and ongoing activities; they anticipate needs and modify tasks as necessary.

The Assistant Director is responsible for managing a fundraising portfolio of advancement ambassadors inclusive of personalized cultivation and solicitation of donors and potential donors as appropriate.

They oversee a staff of student designers to complement a communications plan that will educate and inspire volunteers.

This role will act as the liaison for Leadership Relations collaborating with colleagues to integrate ambassador work and individual prospect strategies to achieve annual and long-term fundraising goals with the Offices of Student Life, Annual Giving, Global Employer Relations, NU Center for Entrepreneurship and Global Experience.

Candidates interested in volunteer management, with an interest in working in a fast paced, task-oriented office who demonstrate personal initiative and thrive under autonomy are ideal for this role.

Major Duties of this position include (but are not limited to):
  • Executes regional Ambassador programming in collaboration with International Advancement. Works with the Director of Leadership Networks and advancement volunteer leaders of the university to determine country-based agendas, recruit presenters, prepare talking points and presentations, and conduct follow-up.
  • Develops dynamic web and social media tools to support volunteer engagement and content management, inclusive of e-newsletter, video content, and on-line seminars
  • Uploads content to the University Advancement website as required
  • Responsible for input of prospect management activity on Salesforce.
  • Management for the administrative oversight of student employment, processing travel, expense and reimbursement forms; manage calendars and coordinate meetings and appointments; make travel arrangements.


QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • At least five (5-7) years related office experience, preferably in higher education and/or development;
  • The university is seeking a highly motivated, entrepreneurial, energetic individual who can think independently and analytically and seeks to build a career in advancement;
  • Must be able to exercise absolute discretion and good judgment when dealing with confidential and sensitive material;
  • Maintain standards of professional competence and adheres to a professional code of conduct;
  • Ability to manage and facilitate an intense workload and produce quality results in a fast-paced environment;
  • Will manage multiple priority projects at once with ease and efficiency;
  • Will be proactive; anticipate problems; be resourceful and work effectively with colleagues and external constituents at all levels;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; enjoys working with people and possess skills necessary for building relationships with external (donors, prospects, trustees) and internal (deans, faculty, staff, colleagues) constituents; highly collaborative in approach;
  • Strong organizational skills required;
  • Must possess a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office software and a strong technical understanding of database management and reporting


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Volunteer Management
  • Responsible for the oversight, and implementation of volunteer ambassador activities working in close collaboration with the International Advancement, Global Employer Relations, International Recruiting office, and Executive Director of Leadership Relations. Execute regional volunteer programming and collaborate with staff to determine country-based agendas, recruit faculty presenters, and conduct follow-up.
  • Lead the Ambassador Nominating Committee to identify new candidates for new volunteer cohorts. Work with internal and external partners to develop an annual slate of nominees, and to execute on nominations per annual review.
  • Manage the personalized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of volunteer gifts driving participation and leadership giving, in partnership with the Office of International Advancement and Annual Giving.
  • Develop web and social media tools that support volunteer engagement and content management, including newsletters, video content, and online seminars.


Administrative Support
  • Maintain integrity of prospect files and prospect records on Salesforce
  • Assist in the print and electronic mailings to key stakeholders
  • Provide logistical support and support meeting organization and follow up
  • Provide website content management for the YGL website page utilizing WordPress.


Student Management
  • Lead the recruitment, training, and management of student employees who work with University Advancement on design.
  • Develop reporting tool to share the success stories from student interaction.
