Associate HR Business Partner

The Associate HR Business Partner works collaboratively with the HR Business Partners providing comprehensive HR support for employee relations, talent/performance management and workforce planning. Collaborate with client departments and within HR to administer human resources policies and programs, balancing employee advocacy and College operating needs. Promote equity, fair treatment, and positive employee relations and ensure compliance with state and federal employment laws. Build credible relationships with clients allowing for better decisions and organizational effectiveness. Under the direction of HR Leadership, the Associate HRBP is involved in solving complex HR-related issues. Provide exceptional, quality customer service and crisp execution of deliverables.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
  • Provide guidance to employees on human resources policies, employment law, and employee performance issues. Review and assess employee transaction requests; conduct exit interviews
  • Work closely with HR Business Partners and/or department hiring managers to draft and edit new or revised job descriptions and facilitate the evaluation process with the compensation team
  • Ensure timely and accurate entries to the HRIS database (Workday)
  • Work with HR Business Partners and other HR colleagues to resolve complex employee and/or talent challenges. Generate solutions and implement with input from more senior HR teammates
  • Assist in the formulation of HR policies and procedures, and workforce goals and assure college policies are administered fairly and consistently. Effectively communicate and execute necessary changes to policies and procedures.
  • In partnership with the HR Business Partners and the HRIS team, streamline, consolidate and standardize HR reporting. Provide business unit analytics to support actionable insights within each client area
  • Conduct employee and supervisor training initiatives in the areas of performance/talent management, policies and procedures and prevention of harassment and discrimination as needed
  • Maintain employee records in compliance with state and federal requirements
  • May conduct complex/sensitive employee related investigations as needed


QUALIFICATIONS - Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to effectively perform job.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; experience in higher education is a plus
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in Human Resources in either a Generalist or Talent acquisition role and/or spanning across several HR disciplines
  • Ability to interpret and translate HR data into actionable insights and business solutions
  • Operational experience in Human Resources providing service to employees and managers in various capacities. Ability to work with employees at all organizational levels
  • Ability to handle information in a manner which protects confidentiality
  • Independent problem solver who presents solutions and takes initiative
  • A sense of humor, flexible work style, pro-active thinking and the ability to work in a highly collaborative culture are required
  • SHRM-CP preferred but not required


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES - May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills, and abilities commonly associated with the job.

  • Knowledge of HRIS systems (Workday a plus)
  • Knowledge of current federal, state, and local employments laws, statutes, regulations, policies, and compliance
  • Strong technical skills (Microsoft Office tools, e.g. excel, PowerPoint, etc...)
  • Effective negotiation and consultative skills at the middle management level

Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. Strong ability to multi-task and attention to detail

Grade of Position: A18E

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36.25

Salary: $89,800.00
