Hiring Department

The Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Effective July 1, 2022, the School of College of Arts and Sciences will transition to the School of Humanities and Social Services.

Some divisions may make some adjustments to current faculty guidelines and policy with that transition.

Job Description

The Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology at the University of Missouri-Kansas City invites applications for two (2) 9-month, Visiting Assistant Professor positions beginning in the 2022-2023 academic year. Responsibilities will include teaching four courses per semester in the Criminal Justice and Criminology undergraduate BA and/or MS programs (or equivalent effort based on department need) as well as participation in departmental service.

Minimum Qualifications

A Ph.D. in criminal justice or closely related discipline is preferred, but candidates with a post-baccalaureate degree such as a master’s degree in criminal justice or closely related discipline with demonstrated teaching excellence will be considered. Candidates currently at the A.B.D. (All But Dissertation) stage also are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate should display a strong commitment to high quality undergraduate education, and must demonstrate a commitment to increasing diversity, equity and inclusion in higher education.

Full Time/Part Time

Full-Time, benefit eligible, unranked/non-tenure track academic position. Initial contract is 9 months beginning Fall 2022.
