Assistant Professor of Nursing

The University of Mobile is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Nursing.  Rank and salary are commensurate with education and experience.  The candidate will exemplify a strong Christian faith and exhibit a commitment to the University’s mission and core values.  The assistant professor will report directly to the Dean of the School of Nursing and will be expected to:

  • Teach graduate courses (FNP, DNP) in the School of Nursing, beginning Fall 2022;
  • Advise and mentor students;
  • Assist with the preparation of and participate in simulation activities, intensives, and clinical schedules;
  • Serve on University committees and School of Nursing committees;
  • Post and keep office hours each academic period;
  • Attend all University and School of Nursing meetings, and required workshops unless absence is approved by the respective dean;
  • Remain on duty after any University session until all records are complete and submitted to the proper offices;
  • Assist with recruitment activities as scheduled and as assigned;
  • Assist in the registration and orientation of students during Fall, Spring, and Summer terms, and at early registration;
  • Submit attendance records and grades as required and as scheduled by the Registrar;
  • Submit syllabi, credit hour forms, and textbook orders according to scheduled due dates;
  • Attend and support University activities, supporting area clubs, organizations, and societies;
  • Support School of Nursing student organizations and activities;
  • Attend mandated University activities, including but not limited to, Project Serve (community service day) and Commencement ceremonies in proper academic regalia;
  • Accept additional responsibilities as assigned by the Dean of the School of Nursing and/or the Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Preferred credentials: A doctoral or specialist degree in nursing (PhD, FNP, and DNP) from a regionally accredited institution is required with an unencumbered nursing license.  Experience teaching online is preferred but not required.  A review of candidates will begin immediately and continue until the positions are filled.
