Purpose of Job

Under general supervision of the Assistant Supervisor of Grounds, to perform a variety of skilled or semi-skilled tasks involving the operation, servicing, and maintenance of heavy automotive and/or related construction equipment; and/or to perform other maintenance duties in the Public Works area, as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities

•Operate heavy automotive machinery, such as trucks, tractors, and similar vehicles.
•Operate construction equipment, including dump trucks, loaders, backhoes, and bulldozers.
•Operate sanitation equipment including refuse packers and street sweepers.
•Report under emergency conditions, such as utility breaks and snow removal, as required.

Essential Job Functions

The ability to perform a variety of skilled or semi-skilled tasks involving the operation, servicing, and maintenance of heavy automotive and/or related construction equipment; and/or to perform other maintenance duties for the university.

Qualifications

•Three years of experience in the operation of heavy equipment or related to work.
•Knowledge of and skill to use heavy equipment for various maintenance jobs.
•Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.

•Knowledge of safe working practices.
•Knowledge of the usage and operations of various kinds of heavy equipment.
•Perform skilled and semi-skilled tasks as directed.
•Ability to work in all types of weather.
