Salary: $50,000 - $65,000 depending on education and experience.

Essential Functions (Job Duties)
Works with management to develop funding strategies and grants for new and existing projects. Works with designated program directors and staff to write grant proposals for new and existing programs and writes program reports to existing funders, project leader(s) for proposals, and tracks due dates for all grants and reports.

Perform research on foundations, non-profit corporations, and government agencies to evaluate prospective grants; identify grant opportunities online and through other sources.

Collaborate with directors and senior researchers in identifying fundraising needs and priorities; develop fundraising plans and strategies; establish realistic and achievable timelines; remain current with fundraising trends and serve as a resource on successful development activities, techniques, and methods.

Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundations, non-profit corporations, and government agencies.

Assume primary responsibility for development and execution of proposals; write and archive proposals with a long-term relationship-management approach. Negotiate and navigate internal university system including Sponsored Program Administration, the Development Office, and other relevant units.

Coordinate the completion of grant proposals, including, but not limited to, budgeting, adding supportive documentation, and writing portions of a grant as needed.

Maintain proposal calendar, including cultivation activities and reports to ensure that all applications and reporting deadlines are met.

Monitor and report regularly on the progress of the development program.

High energy and passion for the Center's mission is essential.

Assist with other fundraising projects as requested.

Unique Duties

EDUCATION: Bachelors degree in communications, marketing, business administration, or related field; Masters degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in a nonprofit organization; demonstrated success in a development function (identifying and evaluating potential funding opportunities and relationships) and grant writing; in higher education highly preferred. Reasonable knowledge of University policies and procedures, including budgeting. Proven track record in securing new funding opportunities.

RESEARCH: Knowledge and familiarity with research techniques for fundraising prospect research. comprehensive knowledge of research, and the ability to distinguish and identify funding opportunities for special programs.

ORGANIZATIONAL: Flexible and adaptable style; a professional and resourceful style; the ability to work independently and as a team player, to take initiative, and to manage multiple tasks and projects at a time.

INITIATIVE: Ability to work both independently without close oversight, but also a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside the Center.

WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS: Outstanding written communication skills and editing skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals.

TIME MANAGEMENT: Ability to manage several projects simultaneously, prioritize and plan work activities while meeting respective deadlines. Strong organizational and time-management skills.

ANALYTICAL: Ability to evaluate, interpret, and present complex information effectively in professionally prepared documents or presentations. Must possess a demonstrated attention to detail in order to achieve a high degree of accuracy.

COMPUTER: Proficient in the use of complex administrative systems software, preferably in the higher education environment. Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, especially Word and Excel.
