Academic Director, Institute for Innovation & Entrepreneurship

 

The Naveen Jindal School of Management (JSOM) at The University of Texas at Dallas seeks to fill one full-time, non-tenure track faculty position as Assistant/Associate/Professor of Instruction/Practice, with rank based on qualifications, to help the UT Dallas Institute for Innovation & Entrepreneurship Executive Director provide academic leadership and strategic planning for the I&E undergraduate and graduate programs. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses and will serve with the IIE Executive Director and Director of Programs (Non-Academic) to provide academic resources and training to UT Dallas students, staff, alumni, and the North Texas community.
 
This position includes strategic planning, annual objectives & metrics setting, financial budgeting, and policy procedures revision & development. Specific tasks include the following:
 
-  Reporting and tracking of undergraduate and graduate applications, enrollments, assessment  coordination, competitive benchmarking, and national rankings.

-  Meeting with students, faculty, and staff, including guidance for internships and job placement, faculty feedback and planning, and with department heads and deans across campus to promote interdisciplinary programs.
 
-  Academic review and approvals, including certificates, course waivers, and scholarship recommendations.
 
-  Curriculum improvement and development, including cross-campus initiatives and building ENTP-prefix courses into additional degree programs.
 
-  Recruiting students to JSOM ENTP courses, certificates, and degrees.
 
-  Participation with a wide range of internal and external partners, including corporations, non-profit organizations, chambers of commerce, state and nationwide industry & academic support organizations.
 
-  Assist the Institute for Innovation & Entrepreneurship team in UT Dallas strategic and programmatic activities, including competitions, speaker events, workshops, commercialization of research, spin-out creation, collaboration with other partner universities and external partners.
 
-  Teach four courses per academic year.
 
The successful candidate will be expected to perform tasks of complexity, working independently and with a team, with regular communications with the Institute Executive Director, other IIE staff, JSOM and other UT Dallas officials.
 
A Master’s degree in the academic discipline is required to teach at the undergraduate level. A terminal degree in the academic discipline is required to teach at the graduate level. This position requires past teaching experience at the college level.
 
A PhD in Business or a closely related field is preferred, but those with a relevant Master’s degree (including one emphasizing professional entrepreneurial or startup investor experience), appropriate industry experience, and intellectual contributions will also be considered.
