The Assistant Coach is the right-hand person to Head Coach, working daily to assist them with scheduling practices sessions, preparing for games and scouting upcoming opponents and future student athletes.

Job Duties
Job duties include but are not limited to:
  • Ensures effective teaching and instruction of specific technical skill areas to student athletes; determines appropriate instruction type that would be most beneficial to the student.
  • Demonstrates the character traits of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship; attends all practices and games; provides assistance, guidance, and safeguards for each player; provides training rules and any other unique regulations of the sport to each athlete; displays strong motivational skills.
  • Ensures student athletes grades and conduct are in line with expectations; understands and abides by policies concerning injuries, medical attention, and emergencies; directs student managers, student assistants and statisticians; acts with an attitude of good sportsmanship, personal pride, and pride for school and community.
  • Arranges for issuing and storing of equipment and submits an annual inventory list to the Head Coach; collects the cost of any equipment lost or not returned; recommends to the Head Coach budgetary items for next year in his/her area of the program; monitors equipment rooms; ensures cleanliness and maintenance of specific sport equipment; instills in each player a respect for equipment and school property, its care and proper use.
  • Assists the Head coach with scouting, researching, recruiting, and signing future student athletes; research and places current student athletes in four-year colleges; conducts campus visits, and networks with high schools and club coaches.
  • Instructs players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport; assesses players skills, monitors players during competition and practice, keeps the Head Coach informed of the performance of the student athletes, and maintains a record of team statistics and requirements.
  • Conducts fundraising, makes travel arrangements and associated duties, schedules facilities and drives a van.
  • Works within the basic framework and philosophy of the Head Coach and assists with determining game strategy; assists the Head Coach with supervising athletes during practices and competition; attends all staff meetings.
  • Models sport-like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators; arrives before practice, games and meetings to adequately prepare; remains long enough afterwards to help players with problems or to become involved in staff discussions; assists in the planning and implementation of both in-season and out-of-season conditioning and weight programs; performs other such duties that are consistent with the nature of the position and that may be requested by the Head Coach.

Duties and responsibilities, as required by business necessity, may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing. Scheduling, shift assignments and work location may be changed at any time, as required by business necessity.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Sports Leadership, Sports Management, Recreation, or other relevant field of study
Experience may substitute for degree
One year experience coaching Varsity at a high school, club coaching experience with ages 17/18 or coaching at the collegiate level along with video scouting and the breaking down of opponent videos

Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in Sports Leadership, Sports Management, Recreation, or other relevant field of study
Experience fundraising, ordering supplies and equipment, Presto Stat knowledge and HUDL experience
