The Department of Visualization at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas,
invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track position at the rank of Instructional Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will be expected to teach studio, lecture, and seminar courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels in the areas of animation and/or VFX.

This position is loosely defined as “animation” and includes a range of possible specializations. An ideal candidate would have experience in several of these areas, with expertise in one or two disciplines. Desired topics include procedural modeling, character animation, character rigging, layout, visual effects, surfacing / texturing, lighting & rendering, and digital sculpting. Instruction in these courses includes teaching the fundamental principles and elements of relevant digital content-creation tools including (but not limited to) Maya, Houdini, and the Substance suite. Familiarity with industry-standard software and tools is expected.

An ideal candidate for this position is someone who is comfortable with the production pipelines for both animation / VFX and real-time projects and can implement digital content into both workflows. Experience with Unreal Engine is desirable. 

 Appointment: 

Nine-month academic-track position with a starting date of August 2022. Salary, benefits, and compensation packages are commensurate with experience and qualifications.

 Qualifications: 

Candidates must have either a terminal degree (Ph.D or MFA) in a related field or have equivalent professional experience. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. The Department of Visualization encompasses the technology, art, and science of
visual communication. The department encourages and maintains a vigorous
interdisciplinary blend of the visual arts and the related visual and imaging sciences and technology. Academic programs include the B.S., M.S., and MFA in Visualization, with approximately 400 students.
