This position requires collaboration with Maxwell School, Syracuse University and external organization stakeholders to direct Executive Education programs and further important strategic initiatives. Important elements of this position include: 1) Leading efforts to develop a more robust and sustainable set of online, in-person, and hybrid short-term offerings, 2) Leading efforts to market Maxwell degree programs, CAS, and training programs (focusing on India and Central Asia), and 3) Leading a School-wide strategic initiative to expand our engagement with alumni and friends working in State & Local government. This work requires a strong sense of ownership and an entrepreneurial spirit that balances great programming with financial resource acquisition to ensure sustainability. This work also requires a high-level commitment to collaborative management skills given our need to leverage people and resources we do not always employ directly as we design, develop, and deliver programs. This work also requires significant flexibility as we constantly reassess what is working well in our areas of focus and adjust our priorities. Qualifications
Minimum education required is a masters¿ degree. No specific professional designations, licenses or registrations are required. What is most important is having significant professional experience designing, developing, and implementing adult education programs that includes attention to advanced pedagogical techniques (interactive learning, experiential, practitioner engagement, in person as well as online delivery formats). Job Specific Qualifications
There are multiple technical/professional knowledge and skill areas critical for this position: 1) All standard desktop, MS office suite applications including MS Teams, 2) cloud-based programs (for example salesforce, playposit, modern campus, digital badging) that are increasingly critical to our work, 3) basic instructional design and course building techniques, 4) mastery of sponsored program administration requirements (for example, proposal writing, budget creation, contract, and working with key stakeholders on campus), 5) faculty and expert relationship building and engagement required to collaborate on new course builds, 6) excellent participant/student facing skills. 7) expert skills in creating and leading effective teams. 8) Excellent collaborative management skills required to work with University and Maxwell School stakeholders. Responsibilities
  • Direct Maxwell’s Short Course Initiative – analyze, evaluate and develop curriculum and delivery processes for executive education activities. Develop markets, short courses, and processes to support education for an expanded audience. Lead effort to collaborate across SU and within Maxwell to produce Maxwell’s first micro-credentials. Expand Maxwell’s quantity and quality of online short courses.
  • Direct International efforts (with a focus on India and Central Asia) – create, lead, negotiate, and coordinate collaborative partnerships across academia (within Maxwell/SU/other university partners), Governments, NGOs, and the private sector to support executive education activities. Increase international engagement, focusing on India and Central Asia that provides financial support for the Maxwell School and supports the School’s mission.
  • Direct State & Local strategic initiative ¿enhance Maxwell’s work as it is relevant to recruit students, engage alumni, support facilitate research, and assist practitioners through various outreach activities, including executive training. Expand strategic engagement with external partners and increase the visibility and recognition of Maxwell’s S&L efforts to meet the Dean’s expressed goals.
