Job Description Summary:

Promote equity by ensuring fairness, impartiality, and justice to ensure an equal opportunity for all students to participate fully in the educational and nonacademic opportunities offered through Austin Community College. This position provides additional Student Life support and guidance for priority populations with the goal of strengthening equitable academic and co-curricular outcomes.

Job Description:

Description of Duties and Tasks

1) Under the guidance of the Student Life Supervisor, develop and deliver effective equity-oriented Student Life programming.
2) Develop individualized success planning sessions in-person or through remote working methods as appropriate to meet the needs of priority population students and to help them thrive in the college environment. Assist with monitoring progress and outcomes.
3) Develop, facilitate, and oversee peer-to-peer and faculty/staff-to-student mentorship programming.
4) Maintain knowledge of college and community resources sufficiently to make appropriate referrals in support of assigned priority students’ needs.
5) Collaborate with colleagues to ensure priority students have awareness of, and access to, existing college resources that empower them to thrive. Specifically address areas associated with elevating persistence and ensuring equitable goal attainment (graduation, employment/career preparation, university transfer, leadership development, mental and physical health, etc.).
6) Respond timely to questions and inquiries via various methods such as telephone, email, in person, web-based conference application, digital or social media, etc.
7) Connect students to campus and community leadership opportunities to build professional skills and social capital.
8) Promote events and services through social media and text campaigns, email, telephone, and/or print graphics.
9) Write, publish, and communicate monthly newsletter in collaboration with the Student Life Coordinators and Student Affairs Communications team.

10) Develop, manage and curate material for Student Life webpage.

11) Collect efficacy and impact studies data pertaining to activities and events; gather, enter, track, data and maintain/update student information database.

12) May oversee the work of temporary hourly employees or work study students whose duties align with the assigned priority population(s) programming.

13) Schedule students for Student Life events and activities.1

Required Work Experience

* One year related work experience which may include paid or unpaid internships. Related work experience less than 6 months in duration or 15 hours/week may also be counted.

Required Education

* Associate degree.

Four years of related work experience may substitute for this education requirement. Applicants who substitute work experience to meet the education requirement must use additional related work experience to meet the years of "Required Work Experience" for this position. Please note that the college reserves the right to amend these terms of substitution at any time.

Special Requirements

* Valid Texas Driver's License and reliable transportation needed for local Austin area travel.

Physical Requirements

* Work is performed in a standard office or similar environment.
* Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
* Occasional lifting of objects up to 10 pounds.

Safety

* Work safely and follow safety rules. Report unsafe working conditions and behavior. Take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices.

ACC Benefits Overview

Full-time faculty and staffing table employees who work in full-time and/or part-time positions at the college are eligible for ACC medical benefits effective the first of the month after their first 60 days of employment. Benefits include medical, dental, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, retirement plans and AD&D.

ACC does not participate in Social Security. ACC participates in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) and the Optional Retirement Program (ORP-Faculty and Administrators Only). Part-time and Hourly employees participate in the ACC Money Purchase Plan (ACCMPP) as a retirement program required by federal law.
