Job Description

Piedmont Virginia Community College (PVCC) is a nonresidential two-year institution of higher education that serves Central Virginia – principally residents of the City of Charlottesville and the counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson. Our scenic campus is located in Albemarle County, Virginia. We are one of 23 community colleges in Virginia that comprise the Virginia Community College System (VCCS).

 

Reporting to the President, the VPFAS serves as the Chief Financial Officer of the college. The VPFAS provides leadership, management, and strategic decision making for all fiscal matters at the college. In addition, the VPFAS:

  • Develops short-and long-range strategic and operational plans
  • Organizes available human and financial resources
  • Assures that qualified staff are hired, motivated, and supported
  • Serves as primary financial and administrative services advisor to the President
  • Manages the college’s budgeting and fiscal operations
  • Provides leadership and supervision to:
    • Auxiliary Services
    • Facilities
    • Business Office
    • Human Resources
    • Capital Projects
    • Payroll
    • Campus Police
    • Purchasing
    • Cashier
    • Risk Management

 

  • The VPFAS establishes ongoing processes that lead to continuous improvement in all aspects of finance and administrative services
  • The VPFAS Serves as:
  • Ex Officio Director and Treasurer of the PVCC Educational Foundation
  • Permanent member and principal advisor to the Finance and Building Committee of the PVCC Board
  • Member of the Administrative Services Committee
  • Member of the President’s Staff college leadership team
  • Other committees as assigned

 

  • The VPFAS participates in community activities which will serve the interests of the college and the personal and professional interests of the individual; engages in professional activities which will lead to professional development and the enhancement of services to the institution

 

KSA's/Required Qualifications         

  • Master’s degree or Doctorate in an appropriate field
  • Demonstrated record of excellence in Finance and Administrative Services
  • Demonstrated management and supervisory experience
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to a diverse work environment integrity beyond question
  • Commitment to the mission and philosophy of a public comprehensive community college

 

Preferred Qualifications   

  • Doctorate in an appropriate field
  • Prior experience with Virginia Community College System (VCCS)
