Job Description

The Assistant-Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance and Academics oversees the compliance and academic operations of the athletic department.

Missouri Western is an NCAA Division II institution, which successfully competes in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association ( MIAA ) in 16 sports and Great Lakes Valley Conference ( GLVC ) in 1 sport.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
  • Coordinate all aspects of the NCAA, MIAA, GLVC and institutional compliance program for the university.
  • Provide rules education to athletics staff, coaches and student athletes; monitor coaching and recruitment activities; and provide rules interpretations.
  • Track student-athlete eligibility and progress-toward-degree for 17 NCAA intercollegiate athletics programs.
  • Manage scholarships for all intercollegiate athletics programs.
  • Prepares and submits annual Sports Sponsorship and Demographics report, Academic Performance Census, and Graduation report as required by the NCAA .
  • Serve as an advisor to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
  • Serve as sport supervisor for various sports as assigned by Director of Athletics.
  • As a member of the athletics senior administrative team, performs other duties of a similar nature as deemed necessary by the Director of Athletics.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work as well as concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Organized thinker with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Extensive knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations and the ability to provide interpretation and education to coaches and staff.
  • Proficient in ARMS or related compliance software, Microsoft Office programs, and other general office equipment.
  • Ability to learn new computer software and applications.
  • Knowledge of budgeting guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with entities outside of athletics.
Required Qualifications
  • This position requires a professional degree in Business, Marketing, Sport Management, or a related field.
  • Must have three to five years of experience in NCAA compliance, either at Division I or II levels. Five to seven years of experience is preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proven ability to handle high stress situations, meet deadlines, and manage multiple responsibilities.
Physical Demands

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
