Job Description

This person would join a close-knit, three person team with the shared mission of creating an accessible community at Mizzou where people with disabilities have an equal opportunity to participate in all aspects of campus life. This person would work in a fast-paced working environment where creative problem-solving, adaptability, collaboration and communication, attention to detail, and the willingness to take on responsibility are key.

This role is positioned to make a positive impact on the MU Campus through all of the key job functions:
  • Assists the ADA Coordinator and Deputy ADA Coordinator with intake, research, and implementation of accommodations for faculty and staff with various types of disabilities. Maintains confidentiality and a professional relationship with all employees and supervisors.
  • Assists with case management, data collection, record keeping, fiscal tracking, and other everyday administrative tasks.
  • Conducts in-depth ADA accessibility reviews on campus buildings to assist with pinpointing accessibility issues and planning for improvements.
  • Assists the ADA Coordinator and Deputy ADA Coordinator with evaluating and responding to accessibility complaints and issues.
  • Supports strategic projects to improve accessibility and disability inclusion in facilities, events, and programs.
  • Conducts education and outreach related to accessibility, accommodations, and disability awareness.
  • Collaborates and builds rapport with other University departments to advance accessibility goals.

Salary

$17.00-$19.00/hour

Grade: GGS 8

Shift

Generally 8-5, Monday-Friday. Some flexibility in work schedule is common in this role, and can be arranged with supervisor approval.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Individuals with prior experience working with individuals with disabilities, chronic health conditions, or mental health conditions are strongly preferred. Experience with case management, fiscal management, disability accommodations, and/or accessibility is also preferred, but detailed onboarding and training on all aspects of the role will be provided, and so knowledge of all job functions is not necessary to be a successful candidate.
