Job Description

Perform work in the inspection, installation and repair of telecommunications equipment.

Install, terminate, test, and repair wiring, equipment and peripherals for switched and non-switched services (voice, data, and video). Duties include, but are not limited to, interpretation of written requests; coordination of work with customers; installation or repair of requested services; documentation; interaction/communication with Telecom Specialists regarding such services, and completion of appropriate paperwork.

Perform installation, programming and repair services for more advanced systems (i.e. fiber circuits, CATV distribution, data networks, and copper circuits).

Use desktop software (internally developed and commercially available software) to perform daily tasks.

Move, add to, clean, and reconfigure all telecommunications terminals. Perform in-building cable splicing (twisted pair, fiber, and coaxial) per industry methods. Design solutions for advanced systems (voice, data, and video).

Attend and successfully complete courses of instruction. Assist in project coordination. Other duties as assigned.

Salary

$15.00 - $20.00 per hour, commensurate with experience

Shift

Monday – Friday 7:30 am – 3:30 pm, will participate in an on-call 24/7 rotation

Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary.
Possess at least one year experience in telecommunications wiring, electrical wiring and/or construction trades.
Education in related area (Telecommunications, Computer Science or Network Operations) may be substituted on a year-for year basis for experience.
Must have and maintain a valid Driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

PC literacy and experience with desktop software (Word, Excel, e-mail, etc.) is desirable.
