Primary Function

Under the direction and supervision of the Business Administrative Associate, works as part of a team in the Holmes Student Center Business Office in the review and preparation of daily cash and charge reconciliations. Assists with supervision of work-related duties to student staff. Maintains a positive attitude while interacting with all HSC personnel, NIU auditors and various other NIU Departments.

Duties and Responsibilities (generally)

This position works independently and provides support to other individuals within the HSC Business Office. Prepares and submits daily accounts receivable invoices, internal and external. Provides back-up as needed for the handling and processing of all cash operations in the HSC . Assists in supervising student staff. Executes extensive spreadsheet data entry requiring knowledge of excel formats and formulas.

Minimum Required Qualifications for this position

Any one or combination totaling two (2) years (24 months) from the categories below:
  1. Two (2) years (24 months) of course work in accounting.
  2. Course work in any discipline;


A. 9 semester hours of college of course work in accounting
OR
B. 30 semester hours of college coursework in any discipline AND one (1) year (12 months) of work experience which included bookkeeping, office support or closely related experience
OR
C. Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) of college coursework in any discipline AND six (6) months of work experience which included bookkeeping, office support or closely related experience
OR
D. 90 semester hours of college coursework in any discipline
OR
E. Two (2) years (24 months) of work experience which included bookkeeping, office support, or closely related experience

This is a position which requires self-directed initiative and accomplishment, pursuing clearly defined goals and objectives. This position must have a working knowledge and understanding of General Accounting Principles and Procedures, NIU Regulations and Procedures and computerized record keeping and report generating software systems. This position requires accuracy, attention to detail and consistent follow through, as well as discretion and initiative. This is a security sensitive position.

Working Hours

M-F 8:00-4:30

Minimum Pay Rate (Hourly or Monthly)

$12.15-13.15/hour
