Job Summary/Basic Function:
Under the direction of the President and Vice President of Equity,
Diversity, and Inclusion, in collaboration with other campus
stakeholders, this position will help WSU achieve and sustain eHSI
status through active strategic planning participation and building
institutional capacity to enhance long-term growth.
The Executive Director of HSI Initiatives will act as the liaison
and develop effective strategies, relationships and communications
with faculty, staff, students, community groups, educational
entities and funding agencies to achieve the eHSI goal. The
Executive Director will be responsible for advancing, supporting,
and evaluating equity, diversity, and inclusion programs related to
eHSI activities across the campus to ensure equity and promote a
culture of inclusiveness.

diversity, and inclusion issues and experience in workshop
facilitation and/or teaching
- Experience working with Hispanic/Latino/a/x populations
- Experience developing and managing budgets, evaluating
project-level activities & making recommendations for
continuous improvement of success initiatives and strategic
- Ability to conceptualize, plan, and implement major initiatives
supported by diverse university & community stakeholders
- Knowledge of HSI best practices & funding opportunities
(Title V, etc.) for HSIs, barriers that limit participation in
higher education for Hispanic/Latino/a/x, underrepresented &
- Experience building collaborative partnerships with a broad
range of organizations (public agencies, K-12, non-profits,
community, business, governmental & national)
- Completed coursework or certifications in diversity, equity,
inclusion; race and ethnic studies; and/or social justice
- Technical and analytical skills, including creativity and
initiative, to conceptualize, plan and implement programs that
support enterprise goals and objectives.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of grant funding,
including techniques and methods of researching grant
opportunities, identifying federal, state, private and corporate
grant funding organizations, securing and maintaining funding from
external agencies, and complying with the reporting requirements.
Experience in grant writing and/or securing external funding.
- Ability to research, compile, analyze, and interpret
information and data.
- Ability to effectively train, supervise, and evaluate the
performance of assigned staff.
- Advanced/doctoral degree
