Lab Technician

About the Opportunity

Job Summary:

In the New England Inflammation and Tissue Protection Institute (NEITPI), under the direction of Dr. Michail Sitkovsky, the Laboratory Technician will independently perform basic or applied research of higher scope and complexity. In addition to standard responsibilities of a Laboratory Technician (managing lab inventory, safety protocols, hazardous waste, general lab maintenance), the Technician will be responsible for conducting research experiments with CAR-T cells and polyclonal T cells using in vitro and in vivo cancer immunotherapy models. Bench level experience with human or mouse T cells in tumor-bearing hosts is highly desirable. The technician should have significant experience in mammalian cell culture and performing basic immunological research. Experience in cancer immunotherapy or infectious disease models is preferred. The technician will utilize flow cytometry, cell sorting, immunofluorescence, ELISA, qRT-PCR, and cell-based assays to evaluate novel treatment strategies during in vivo mouse cancer immunotherapy models. Experience in animal handling and murine cancer immunotherapy protocols is a plus. The technician will provide functional and administrative supervision of graduate/undergraduate students as well as attend meetings and present research. The incumbent will also be encouraged to publish findings of main research projects in peer-reviewed journals.

Qualifications:

Must have a B.S. or equivalent and 2+ years laboratory experience. This experience should demonstrate the ability to plan and execute research projects; previous experience with mammalian cell culture, flow cytometry (and Flowjo analysis software), ELISA, immunohistochemistry, RT-PCR, fluorescent microscopy, animal handling/injection, in vivo tumor immunology assays.

  • Past experience might in the generation and analysis of anti-tumor T cells [polyclonal T cells and chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells] is a plus
  • Use of flow cytometry (and Flowjo analysis software) is important along with in vivo mouse cancer immunotherapy models.
  • Mammalian cell culture including co-culturing of immune cells and tumor cells is highly desirable.
  • Analysis of tumor microenvironment on the level of cytokines and chemokines.
  • Experience in methods and models of cancer immunotherapies
