About the Opportunity

Responsibilities: The Department of Psychology at Northeastern University is seeking a qualified applicant to fill a full-time, 12-month position as a Research Coordinator. Primary responsibilities will include participant recruitment, community outreach, diversified administrative, supervisory, and support duties as a member of a team of faculty, scientists, intervention specialists, medical staff, postdocs, and graduate students to assure the smooth and efficient operation of a federally-funded clinical trial aimed at examining the effects of exercise on cognitive and brain health in children. Specific responsibilities require independence and will include recruiting, screening, and scheduling participants; oversight of study interventions, facilities, and staff; data entry and database management; oversight of research assistants and staff members on study protocol; budgeting and grant processing , purchasing and other duties as assigned. The successful candidate must be able to work independently and will have considerable responsibilities related to the recruitment of study participants, and supervision of research staff and protocols. This includes the management/oversight of the recruiting, screening and enrolling of children for participation in a clinical trial; as well as ensuring compliance with national and institutional guidelines. Such responsibilities also entail the organization of project staff involved in data collection and participant interaction; organization of database management; and assistance with budgetary matters such as coordination of requisitions, oversight of purchasing, and travel reimbursement processes, and maintenance of records of purchase and payment.

Qualifications: An academic background in Business Management, Health Sciences, Public Health or related field is preferred, but other backgrounds will be considered. A Bachelor's degree is required. Prior experience coordinating human trials research is strongly preferred. Ability to develop and implement recruitment strategies is critical. Candidate should have strong networks in the Boston community and be able to demonstrate prior work with children and families. Skills Desired: Successful candidates will be expected to be highly organized; dependable; proficient in computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint ; have excellent oral and written communication skills; have an ability to work independently and in a team environment. Excellent and demonstrated interpersonal, time management, and solution focused skills are required. Candidates should have meticulous attention to detail, as well as the ability to effectively manage time and prioritize workload.
