Position Overview & Responsibilities

The O’Brien Center for Career Development seeks to add an Assistant Director of Marketing & Student Outreach to their team. The Assistant Director will work with the Associate Vice President to develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and advertising strategy focused on student outreach for all of the products and services offered by the O’Brien Center. S/he will collaborate closely with O’Brien Center colleagues, academic partners, the Office of Student Involvement, Admissions, the Academic Success Center, and the Office of Development and Alumni Relations to build strategic partnerships that will promote internships and first-job opportunities for our students. In addition, the Assistant Director of Marketing & Student Outreach will work with the AVP to construct an employer marketing strategy to expand and enhance corporate partnerships and participation in O’Brien Center events.
  • Assist the Associate Vice President with the build and implementation of a marketing/advertising plan for student outreach to inform them of products and services offered by the O’Brien Center.

  • Assist the AVP to implement a marketing campaign that will enlist the support of faculty and staff to promote O’Brien Career Center products and services to students.

  • Assist the AVP to build a comprehensive employer marketing and engagement strategy to support student and employer participation in OCCD events, including but not limited to, the Professional Development Retreat (PDR), Professional Development Events, Career Workshops, Career Fairs, Networking Events, and on- and off-campus hiring activities.

  • Develop a social media and web strategy to expand the digital footprint for the O’Brien Center within the student, employer and alumni sphere.

  • Manage student employees (including interns) to be utilized to support all marketing/advertising initiatives.

  • Maintain all web pages on the O’Brien Career Center website.

  • Demonstrated ability to implement a marketing plan, communicate that plan and ensure all key stakeholders are engaged and aligned with that plan.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.

  • 3+ years plus of relevant experience.

  • Experience in implementing marketing and social media plans.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and resources simultaneously.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and employer partners.

  • Ability to manage a team in a fast-paced environment, juggle multiple priorities, and manage ambiguity; quick learner, sharp attention to detail, excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Strong verbal/written communication skills, exemplary interpersonal skills and demonstrate a genuine appreciation for working with diverse audiences.

  • Strong follow-through, initiative, and willingness to work in a team in a flexible work environment.

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Technical aptitude and demonstrated ability to utilize multiple technology sources including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Google mail, calendar, drive, and Meet; Zoom, Microsoft, and Apple devices; Canvas or other LMS; Social media

  • Statistical analysis and/or data visualization tools are a plus.
