The Watson College of Education ( WCE ) (www.uncw.edu/ed) is a growing college with over 60 tenure-track faculty members working in undergraduate and master’s programs in the Department of Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle, Literacy and Special Education and the Department of Instructional Technology, Foundations and Secondary Education, and master’s and doctoral programs in the Department of Educational Leadership. It offers several international study programs and maintains partnerships with numerous school districts, community colleges, colleges/universities in the region, and in business and corporate settings. The Watson College of Education is a complex unit that must stay abreast of the many changes, laws, and requirements affecting the licensure of educators in our state.

Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The Administrative Associate serves as support for the Business Office in the Watson College of Education. This position is responsible for maintaining and reconciling various financial documents and creating reports that track the activity of multiple funds and initiatives. As the point of contact for providing support to Watson for operating processes this position requires the ability to research and interpret a variety of policies, procedures, and regulations in order to select the most appropriate course of action within specific procedural and operational guidelines. This position will develop and maintain resources to support the work of Watson employees. The individual selected for this role must possess the ability to communicate courteously with administrators, faculty, staff, vendors, and independent contractors and be able to work independently. In addition this position will perform duties that include but are not limited to purchasing equipment and materials, processing travel, entering pay actions, reconciling WORKS transactions, and processing journal entries, independent contractor forms, check requests, and interdepartmental invoices. This position will oversee P-Card access groupings and access to University systems.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Preferred education, professional skills and experience
- Associate degree in business administration, or a related discipline; or Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business administration or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of training and experience
- All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
